Pictures of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hugging French President Emmanuel Macron have been flashing all over the India TV channels at least.
The two leaders were celebrating the French National Day on July 14 known as Bastille Day because the Prison known as Bastille Fort was stormed on this day in 1789.
But this is 2023 when France has been in turmoil for over a month since a teenager was killed by police on June 26. Around 3000 youths have been arrested for protesting but it does not stop.
In India Manipur is on boil for more than two months taking a toll of around 100 while the Netas are busy buying MLAs in Maharashtra to break up other parties.
The government refuses to withdraw the obnoxious Sedition Law or the UAPA and India's ranking continues to slide in the Global Press Freedom Index.
So what do the two world statesmen do?
They discuss to end the Ukraine Russia war.
I don't know whether there is a deal in making the Rafale deal. Subramanian Swamy or Rahul Gandhi would no better.
I don't know how to whether to pronounce Bastille ending with  'ille' or 'iya'. Professor Hemant Joshi knows it best.
