Unprecedented breach of security on the 22nd anniversary of Parliament House attack raises serious questions on the loud and tall claims of efficiency and working of the Union Home Ministry.

Two frustrated youths could jump from the visitors’ gallery into the House chamber and could climb up desks and raising slogans while dangling from the visitors' gallery and spraying some yellow-coloured fumes is no ordinary incident and needs to be comprehended thoroughly.

It has become clear now that a group of young men and women planned the whole incident on an open social media forum and out security and intelligence agencies did not take note of it exposes the working of the Union Home Ministry that is led rather controlled by none other than the Modi government’s most powerful leader Amit Shah.

What is worst that an intruder identified as Manoranjan could secure his entry through a pass issued by BJP MP Pratap Simha’s office.

A similar incident in which a man and a woman were arrested after the breach of security in the Lok Sabha for protesting outside the Parliament building carrying cans that emitted a yellow and red smoke shows that youth of the country is frustrated on the lack of employment and denial of basic freedoms of protest and agitations. It is a tight slap on the tendency of the ruling BJP government that seeks to resolve all conflicts and grievances with force and is not ready to provide space for resolutions of problems through democratic dialogue.

The two persons protesting outside Parliament were identified as Neelam, 42, of Haryana's Hisar, and Amol Shinde, 25, of Maharasthra's Latur area. After opening the gas canisters that emitted smoke outside the Parliament building, the two shouted “Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi” (dictatorship will not be allowed), “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Bheem, Jai Bharat.” Slogans make it more than clear that unemployment and lack of proper job opportunities particularly to Dalits and backwards is creating anger which found demonstration on a day which was chosen very carefully.

Incident is a reaction to the policies of the Modi government that have been systematically suppressing dissent and agitations through use of force in university campuses and colleges. The way, Shaheenbagh protests and farmers agitation was handled by the Modi government is bound to find expression in some way.

History tells us that youth’s anger and frustration requires deft handling and human treatment but the Modi government has closed all channels that used to address such issues earlier.

Problem is that security breach incident is going to exploit using it as a ruse to tighten control further than finding creative solutions to the rising tendency among younger generation that is eager to play its expected role in the nation building. Strangling freedoms is the other name of the RSS-BJP and the country is going to see in coming days and weeks that

A chorus has already begun on the social media channels by the massive BJP propaganda machinery to project the incident as the handiwork of the opposition that is anti-national. The ruling party in close tandem with the government machinery is trying its best to exploit it for electoral advantage.

Six youth involved in the planning and execution of the incident chose a day on which Parliament, a symbol of democratic freedom and fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution, was attacked. The objective of highlighting denial of freedoms by the Modi government on a crucial day was chosen so that their act attracts national attention as it is bound to find enough media space and debate in the columns.

There are going to be many conspiracy theories but the daring act is a reminder rather an alarm bell to the ruling dispensation that is obsessed with securitizing every dimension of the national life leaving no space for basic freedoms.
