The Media map website has been promoted by the Centre for Promotion of Alternative Institutions (CPAI), a voluntary body on media and democratic initiative.

Registered under the Societies Registration Act, in the year 1987 the CPAI has over the years done commendable work in bringing academic world and media closer to each other and thus improving the perception and content quality of mass communication.

Eminent educationists and intellectuals like Prof R.P. Dhokalia, Dr. GVG Krishna Murti, Prof GNS Raghvan, Prof S.C. Mathur, Prof J.S. Yadav, Dr. Yogender Narayan, Mr. Hari Jay Singh and Mr. John Dayal have been associated with CPAI as either office bearers or participants in its programs.
