While the entire media was focused   on the Assembly election results on Sunday ( December 3)  , a team of well-known mediapersons from Delhi NCR was busy in a  different job in a remote village in Nainital district . Their job was to distribute woollen to the poor villagers of Gehana , so they get a little comfort in  bitter cold days  ahead .

The mediapersons,  including two former professors of the prestigious IIMC, and the other two belonging to Mediamap news network  are associated with MBM Foundation , a New Delhi -based not-for- profit organisation which is dedicated to social service.

The Foundation has been set by veteran professionals from various fields who feel that the time has come for them to pay back to the society which has given  them so much by way of financial and social status.

he Executive Secretary of the Foundation,  Mr Rajiv Mathur, told me that the Foundation proposes to work in the areas of health, education, employment  and farming in the backward villages in Nainital district from its centre in Gehana village near Mukteshwar.

The initial discussion on this took place yesterday between representatives of the Foundation , two local BJP leaders and a group of villagers at a meeting . Those present were Mr  Pradeep Bisht and Mr Rajendra Singh Bisht , the two BJP leaders, Mr Girish and Mr ..... of Gehana village and Prof Shivaji Sarkar and Mr Jagdish Gautam on behalf of the Foundation  besides Foundation's Executive Secretaty, Mr Rajiv Mathur.

The question of proper price of their farm  produce to the villagers was the main point discussed at the meeting. Besides the Foundation representatives also talked about opening a computer literacy centre and health camps in the village.
