The terrorist attacks on China-sponsored projects by Baloch rebels in Pakistan leading to the killing of several Chinese workers have created an unforeseen crisis in China’s long and friendly relations with Pakistan. Keeping diplomatic niceties apart China has now openly raised its growing security concerns with Pakistan about Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong said at "China at 75: A Journey of Progress, Transformation and Leadership", an event organised by the Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) recently that the two countries should join together to fight these rebels. It is perhaps for the first time that a country has offered to the host country to help it in maintaining its law and order problem. This shows that Chinese authorities doubt   Islamabad’s capability to fight terrorism on its soil.
Jiang in his address said that the fact of terrorist attacks was  unacceptable for China and  Pakistan should ensure the safety and security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan and it was the most important thing for Chinese President Xi Jinping. It is believed  that Xi Jinping has also told this to Pakistani leaders in his meetings with them.

China has publicly expressed its growing security concerns regarding the safety of its nationals in Pakistan. At an international conference in Islamabad, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong emphasized the need for joint action against terrorists targeting Chinese citizens, particularly following a recent suicide attack in Karachi that resulted in the deaths of two Chinese nationals. Jiang stated that ensuring the safety of Chinese workers is a priority for President Xi Jinping, who has already raised this issue with Pakistani leaders .

Ambassador Jiang's remarks,  came after a suicide attack near Karachi's airport earlier in October, claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), left two Chinese citizens dead and 10 others injured. The separatist group BLA, which accuses China and Pakistan of exploitation of the resource-rich Pakistani province of Balochistan, has carried out similar suicide bomb attacks in the last two years in Karachi targeting foreign nationals.

Under CPEC phase-I, China and Pakistan have completed 38 projects worth $25.2 billion. Out of these, 17 projects, valued at $18 billion, belong to the energy sector alone.
About 26 projects worth $26.8 billion are said to be in the pipeline, many of which have been included in CPEC phase-II. However, security concerns have reportedly slowed down progress on these projects.
The CPEC, launched in 2015 as part of Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative, is a key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing economic connectivity between China and Pakistan.

Under the $60-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), thousands of Chinese personnel are working in Pakistan on several projects.
Due to the increasing number of terrorist attacks, Beijing has also reportedly demanded that Islamabad sign an agreement on anti-terrorism cooperation to address its security concerns.
