The Rajya Sabha polls results showed the vulnerability of political leaders and their readiness for cross-over favouring BJP. The muscle power of the party is well known. It uses all methods to win an election and right now it has all big agencies and money under its disposal hence it can easily influence things. moreover, even the presiding officers are  ready to dance on the tone of BJP leaders and Chandigarh Mayoral election result is clear on this.

It is clear that BJP will do everything to steal the mandate.  Frankly, given the nature of resistance and resentment against the policies of the governments at different states, it is the political leaders who are betraying the people because all of them now feel that whatever happens on the ground, BJP can't be defeated. All those who cross over and many fence sitters suffer from this feeling and that is one reason why BJP netas are least bothered about farmers' protests, students’ protests and many other agitations that have happened because they have faith that BJP can't be defeated. And this is dangerous for the future of democracy in India.

In Uttar Pradesh, MLA's belonging to Samajwadi Party cross voted. In Himachal, a  large chunk of Congress MLAs voted for BJP. It means that party's vote management did not work. D K Shivkumar in Karnataka personally supervised the entire thing and ensured that Congress won three seats. Opposition parties  must understand that their netas on radar.

In Uttar Pradesh Savarna MLAs of Samajwadi Party shifted to BJP. In Bihar it happened with RJD. Many of the leaders in these parties are now crying foul against them and blaming Akhilesh Yadav for over-pampering the Savarna leaders. The facts are not that simple. There is no doubt that this is Amrit Kal of Brahmanical Savarna leaders who are now more loyal towards the BJP. Except for a few committed leaders, most of them have realised that their domain will only be possible under this amritkal. They know it well that Bahujan reaction will be stronger and powerful.

The Samajwadi Party has to think many times before it says anything. Why does it need Jaya Bachchan in Parliament. What is her contribution for PDA ? Why can't young and articulate voices of the Samajwadi Party get the chance to be in the Rajya Sabha. The same happened with Manoj Jha who got elected again from RJD. The question is are there no other Dalit backward leaders who can articulate things in these parties? The problem is that the leadership understand the upper caste link of these leaders with media and other connections of power. As long as they are given plum positions, they will remain with the party otherwise, they choose the other way around.

SP-BSP-RJD-Congress need to think that it is not that upper castes are leaving for BJP. The question is why Nitish Kumar, Om Prakash Rajbhar and so many others. The problem is that we have surrendered our rights to the netas and they compromise.

We need ideologically committed political leaders like the days comrades of the Communist parties or dedicated workers of BSP and the Ambedkarite movement who remained committed to their ideologies whether their party won or not. Today, elections have become an art of management and parties must ensure to know the minds of all their netas and senior leaders must ensure things are in the right direction.

The INDIA alliance must sit together and campaign together in many places particularly Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat etc. Important to understand that all this is done to create the impression of the invincibility of the BJP but we need not fall in this propaganda trap. Things are not over and can change if tickets are given to the right candidates and parties fight the election with sincerity and seriousness. (Words  665)
