It's not just India that senior political leaders are told to retire.

In the US where elections are also due in 2024, one of the strongest India based contenders for Republican ticket Nikki Haley has started an ad campaign saying that Joe Biden at 81 is too old to contest as Democratic candidate while she is only 51.

Haley with 29% preferential votes among Republicans is currently number two contender after Donald Trump in the Republican Party.

The other Republic hopefuls like Vivek Ramaswamy are secretly hoping that Trump (78) would be barred from contesting because of several criminal cases against him in various States.

The Republication Judges may be favorable but others could be very strict indeed.

In India on the other hand, while the Indian National Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge (81)has been accepted as the PM face by other parties of the INDIA block, the ruling BJP cannot dare to think beyond Narendra Modi(73) even after 2029.

Names of other options like Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh thrown up by well meaning individuals don't matter because once these names appear in the media these leaders don't know where to hide!

For some reason Amit Shah ensures that his name is never mentioned by the media though the young Bull Dozer baba Yogi Aditya Nath is not averse to taking up the assignment.

But the party has sent a clear message to the veterans LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi,Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie and course the maverick Subramanian Swamy that they are too old to shoulder any responsibility .

They are respectfully dubbed as Margdarshak by the bosses that matter.

Incidentally, Kharge has set a record among the power hungry politicians of today by refusing the offer of becoming the PM face of the INDIA block.

Instead, he has got back to the tough task of setting up a committee to settle the task of seat adjustment for the 2024 elections.

By this gesture he has made his place among the rare breed of Indian politicians including Jaya Prakash Narayan, Nanaji Deshmukh and Sonia Gandhi among others.

That is quite unlike the bickering and hitting below the belt politicians of USA.

We don't know if any of the stalwarts among them will back out if their names are mentioned.

In comparison between the two breeds Indians will always score higher as the Tapasvi or the Givers.
