Every year on July 6, the Dalai Lama's birthday is celebrated worldwide. The day is not just the birthday of a great spiritual leader but also a celebration of his message of peace, compassion, and humanity. The fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibetan Buddhism, Tenzin Gyatso, has completed 88 years of his life. His life and work are a source of inspiration all over the world.

The Dalai Lama was born on 6 July 1935 in Taktser village in Tibet. His real name was Lhamo Dhondup. At the age of two, he was recognized as the reincarnation of the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. He was then educated in the monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism. He studied traditional Buddhist philosophy as well as modern science and philosophy.

The Dalai Lama has always been a messenger of peace and compassion. He has always preached the path of non-violence. After the Chinese invasion of Tibet, the Dalai Lama took refuge in India along with his followers. He has been living in India since then and spreading the message of Tibetan Buddhism and peace worldwide.

Various programs have been organized by the Tibetan refugee community as well as in India and other countries.
