India-Pakistan encounters are the most sought-after events in the World of Sports. Starting with the Olympic hockey rivalry in 1948, a year after the partition of undivided India, the two traditional rivals have been hawking media headlines since then. If it is a race between Milkha Singh and Khalid or the Olympic Hockey final, excitement mounts, tempers run high and each move is followed minutely by spectators and supporters on either side.

This strong sporting rivalry will be the main attraction of the T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament to be organised jointly by the US and West Indies cricket boards between June 2 and 29. The first climax of this cricketing bonanza will be on June 9 when India and Pakistan play their group match in New York. Besides Ireland, two other teams in the pool are Canada and the US. Both these North American teams will have a fairly good representation of players of South Asian origin.

Article at a Glance

The India-Pakistan sporting rivalry is highly anticipated, dating back to the 1948 Olympic hockey rivalry. The excitement is palpable, with every move closely watched by fans on both sides.

The T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament, co-hosted by the US and West Indies, will feature a thrilling India-Pakistan group match on June 9 in New York, with Canada making its debut in the event.

The South Asian community in North America is eagerly awaiting this clash of cricketing titans.

Incidentally, Canada will be making its debut in this prestigious event. All eyes of the strong South Asian community in North America, especially in and around New York, are already superbly excited to watch their favourite stars in action on American soil.

It may be pertinent to mention that last year when India played host to the ODI World Cup, India raced to a comfortable win at massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now the focus has shifted to the shortest version of cricket on American soil. Let us hope cricket triumphs.
