Alia Bhatt wins National Award

Amitabh Srivastava

Will Kangana Ranaut take a break now or give us a break from her daily harangue about nepotism and rule of Parivarvad in Bollywood?

With Alia Bhatt winning her first National Best Actor for Gangubai Kathiawadi all Kangana’s potshots about her being the wrong choice for the role should embarrass her no end.

This is not to question the credentials of Kanagana  as an actor. Not for nothing has she been the winner of four National Awards as Best Actor.

She is also a bold fighter for equal wages to male and female actors in hugely male dominated Bollywood fraternity. When the producers protested that this discrimination was justified because the films of male actors were earning much more hat those of female actors Kangana went to break into the 100 crore group in female lead roles.

Its after her that Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt also started giving 100 crore hits.

But of late Kangana has started losing her mass fan base. Most of her recent films including the latest Thalavi made on the life of late Jayalalitha.

But instead of concentrating on her work she has been hogging publicity by attacking Rithik Roshan for his alleged affair with her.

Although Rithik had his own share of personal problems but his film Super 30 released in 2019 almost at the same time as Judgemental Hai Kya became a superhit while the Kangana film flopped.

Since then she seems to have gone into a totally negative mood attacking politicians like Aditya Thackerey and the Shiv Sena along with her continuous tirade against Karan Johar and his favourite actors branded as products of nepotism.

Alia Bhatt on the other hand has been taking all her barbs quietly and with dignity.

Having made her debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’ she has made her mark with most of her subsequent films including Udta Punjab, Highway, Gully Boy, 2 States, Darlings and Gangubai Kathiawadi and her current hit Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

Kangana who has been avoiding going to film awards functions has been boasting that she does not need private awards because she is recognized for her National Awards.

Considering this record her response to Alia and Kriti Simon (another target of hers) her response has been surprisingly muted.

Writing on her Instagram account she said,”Congratulatuoins to all the winners of #nationalawards 2023. It is such an art carnival that brings all the artists across the country together…It’s truly magical to know and to get introduced to so much important work that’s happening across all the languages.”

On the other hand Alia has been full of thanks,To Sanjay (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) Sir…to the entire crew..to my family…To my team and last but not least To my audience…because without you ALL none of tis would be possible. Seriously.”

And so the show goes on.
