NGO Alankaran is a unique idea whose aim is to honour the NGOs and CSOs engaged in social service on the one hand, and on the other hand to provide a forum to the diminishing voice of democratic expression in the country.
This unique idea was given a concrete shape by Mr. Nirmal Sinha, Founder President of HR Foundation, a Noida based voluntary organization and Advocate Chandra Kumar Srivastava, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Foundation. On the eve of Independence Day, HR Foundation felicitated various voluntary organizations working in various fields at a function at the Press Club of India. All the organizations selected for the award had risked their all by working among the people throughout the Corona crisis when the majority of us were playing safe by staying indoors.
After a tough selections process out of more than 500 voluntary organizations working in Delhi NCR region, 25 were selected for the honour. These are Navratan Foundation, Noida Lokmanch, Sadbhavna Sewa Sansthan, Ayom Welfare Society, Marwari Yuva Manch, Power Charitable Trust, United Women's Programme, Prayas JAC Society, Chhaanv Foundation, CII-Young India, Agewell Foundation, Nivea Foundation, Robinhood Army, Noida Diabetic Forum , Setu Foundation, Anhad Foundation, Communication Research Foundation, Center for Studies in Majority Societies, MBM Foundation, Shaheed Azam Society, Manav Seva Mission, Catholic Society, Mata Sita Devi Charitable Trust, Himachal.
In addition to the representatives of the NGOs prominent of Delhi NCR also participated in this function. Chief among them were Mr.Mahesh Saxena, Indu Rani Singh, Mr.Amitabh Srivastava, Mr. Rajeev Mathur, Mr. Pradeep Deshwal, Dr. Sharadendu Prakash, Mr. Ram Prakash Sharma and Mr. Satyaprakash Tripathi. Ms. Shabnam Hashmi, Dr. J.S. Yadav and Dr. John Dayal could not attend the function for health reasons.
The function was presided over by renowned media guru and senior journalist Mr. Pradeep Mathur. The chief guest was Mr. Amit Pandey, President of Netaji Subhash Organization. The proceedings were conducted by Mr. Ashok Srivastava, President of Navratan Foundation, a voluntary organization based in Noida. The proceedings concluded with the blessings of Swami Nivasacharya who came from Vrindavan.
Umakant Lakhera, President of the Press Club of India was among those present on the occasion. Mr.RS Sharma, President, Kailash Group of Hospitals, former CEO of Quality Control Board Anil Johri, senior journalist writer Mr.Gopal Mishra, HRF director Vidya Sinha and educationist Dr. Rama Saharia.
Mr. Nirmal Sinha, President, HR Foundation said that he and his organization were committed to eradicating child begging from the Delhi NCR region. It is well-known that beggary has been decriminalised in the country by the Supreme Court but no comprehensive plan for their rehabilitation of newly 8 lakhs beggars had been announced by the Centre. Most invitees welcomed the idea and suggested that it should be turned into a comprehensive and effective campaign. After a detailed discussion on the subject it was resolved to prepare a time-bound action plan unanimously.
