Based in a town with Muslim majority the film wastes no time in coming to the point.

If an out and out political film maker like Sidhir Misra is saying something he needs to be taken seriously.
But does he have a point of view or leaves the democratic choice of viewers to prevail, which is more likely.
With producers like Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar backing the project there was never a doubt that the film would hit the people hard. Would make them think harder.
After seeing the film on Netflix two days back, (it was released in theatres in May,)I felt like telling the police and the security agencies if they wanted to know how to make a news viral they should contact Sidhir Misra.
Based in a town with Muslim majority the film wastes no time in coming to the point.
First we hear the hero, rather the protagonist, Nawazudin Siddiqui an adman just returned from the US addressing a gathering of youths.
He very pointedly tells them that the US treats Indians as second grade citizens which was not acceptable. And so he is back in India to attend the book release function of his wife.
Immediately the director gets down to bring him back to the reality by showing how India( politicians) treats its minorities (Muslims of course).
There is a riot sparked by the rally of a youth leader of the Rashtriya Vikas Dal Party, Vicky Singh.
He leaves the spot after being hit by a stone but his loyal followers take immediate revenge by butchering a Muslim butcher of the area.
The picture of the killing goes viral.Everyone in his party seems to be comfortable but his fiancée Bhumi Pendekar who is herself the daughter of a politician puts her foot down and wants the killer behind bars.
When she realises that her fiancée as well as her father don't seem to take this as a major issue she runs away from home.
With Vicky's henchmen taking this as an affront they chase her vehicle till she meets Nawazuddin who is on his way to his wife's program and promises to protect her.
This is where Vicky hires an IT specialist who promises to get his fiancée back,at a price.
And hereafter he starts a rumour promising to make it viral that the couple on the run are lovers and this is a case of Love Jihad.
The mob frenzy created by this rumour is to be seen to be believed. Must be true I guess having read so much about Love Jihad in recent years.
The irony is that Vicky
wants Nawazuddin dead but wants his girl back alive. But the devils let loose by his IT specialist are now out of his control.
It would be unfair to reveal the climax of the film because it is a thriller.
But it surely comes as a shocker because a rumour can boomerang in the most unpredictable ways.
Both Nawazuddin and Bhoomi Pedenkar are established actors but all credit is due to the screenplay that keeps the viewers on the edge till the end.
