Women achievers from across India honoured for their work

The MBKM Foundation, New Delhi, a not-for-profit organization, honoured eight distinguished women from different parts of India for their outstanding contributions in diverse fields.

The occasion was a Memorial Awards function the Foundation organized to commemorate the memory of one of its founder Dr Rama Saharia at Noida on Sunday last. The event brought together eminent personalities from public life, education, journalism, social service and technology. Former Union Home Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, who was the chief guest, presented the awards along with other distinguished guests, including former Union Finance Minister Anil Shastri, former MP Harkesh Bahadur, former Madhya Pradesh MLA Dr. Sunilam, noted educationist Dr. Queeny Pradhan, and Dr. Salim Engineer, National Convener of Jamaat-e-Islami. The function was presided over by Dr. Yogendra Narayan, former Defence Secretary.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Subodh Kant Sahay described women as the “true nation-builders”, saying their role goes far beyond the traditional responsibilities of mothers, sisters and daughters-in-law. Through their knowledge, skills and values, he said, women shape the lives of children who later contribute to society and nation-building in important positions.

Recalling the values and social commitment of Dr. Rama Saharia, Anil Shastri said recognising individuals who work for positive social change was an important way of keeping her ideals alive. Mr Harkesh Bahadur stressed that India's progress would be possible only when women and men worked together as equal partners.

Dr. Yogendra Narayan said women have a vital role in creating a civilised and progressive society. Dr. Queeny Pradhan appreciated the Foundation's initiative, saying the programme provided a platform to recognise women who are making a difference in diverse fields and helping shape the future of the country.

The Foundation’s Vice-Chairman and senior Supreme Court advocate, Mr C.K. Srivastava said the awards were intended not merely to recognise achievement but also to bring the inspiring journeys of the awardees to wider public attention.

The Foundation’s Secretary-General Rajeev Mathur said the annual awards had been instituted in the memory of renowned educationist Dr. Rama Saharia to identify and honour women whose work makes a significant contribution to society and the nation.

The Eight Awardees were:

  • Prof. Manjinder Kaur, Patiala, Punjab - for her long-standing contribution to higher education and teaching.
  • Ms. Urmal Munjwani, Mysuru, Karnataka - for her work in naturopathy, yoga and holistic health.
  • Ms. Naina Gautam, Delhi-NCR - Distinguished journalist and sustainability communicator, for her contribution to environmental protection and climate-change awareness.
  • Ms. Sukhdeep Kaur, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand - for her work in agricultural education, advocacy of farmers' rights and creation of inclusive opportunities.
  • Ms. Garima Joshi, Ranikhet, Uttarakhand - for her contribution to performing arts and specialised skills.
  • Ms. Tabassum Khan, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh - for her work in the welfare of women and children, maternal health, nutrition, sanitation and health awareness.
  • Ms. Atlanta Mahanta, Gandhinagar, Gujarat - for her contribution to multimedia journalism, academic communication and visual storytelling.
  • Ms. Ayushi Karnwal, Guwahati, Assam - for establishing a distinct identity in modelling and image management despite challenging circumstances.

The programme began with a flute recital by Dr. Vikas Rajput and was conducted by noted anchor Dr. Ashok Srivastava.

The Foundation’s Chairman Prof. Pradeep Mathur, along with Vice-President C. K. Srivastava, Secretary-General Rajeev Mathur, Patron R. S. Atroley, and CEO Prof. Avinash Singh welcomed the distinguished guests and expressed their gratitude to all participants.

Many dignitaries, social workers, educationists, journalists and professionals from different fields attended the   event and applauded the achievements of the awardees.
